Field Installation Checklist
Before you close the cabinet
Ten checks every installer should run before handover — from labelling and bend radius to test results and documentation.
Before closing any cabinet door, run through this checklist with your team. Small oversights are the most common cause of post-go-live outages.
Pre-handover checklist
- Confirm bend radius on fibre and torque on copper jacks.
- Verify cable dress and labelling match the as-built diagram.
- Run certification tests on a representative sample of links.
- Archive test results and photograph patch fields.
- Confirm grounding and bonding per local code.
- Walk the pathway with facilities for hot-aisle / cold-aisle compliance.
Documentation to leave behind
- Updated port matrix and cable schedule.
- Tester export files (PDF/CSV) for critical links.
- Spare parts list tied to installed SKUs.
