Cookie Policy

This page explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and what data they collect — so you can make an informed choice when you visit our website.

Effective Date: 4/22/2026  |  Applies to the MEGAnet website (EMEA region).

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site recognise your browser on return visits, remember your preferences, and understand how you interact with content.

Some cookies are essential — the website cannot function properly without them. Others are used to measure and improve the experience.

2. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the website to operate. They cannot be switched off and do not collect personally identifiable information.

meganet_session_idlocalStorageSession / persistentAssigns an anonymous session identifier used to group page interactions for internal usage reporting. No personal data is stored.

3. Internal Usage Analytics

We operate our own lightweight analytics service to understand how visitors use the website — for example, which products are viewed, what search terms are used, and how enquiries are submitted. This data is stored on our own servers and is never shared with third parties.

Events tracked include: page views, product views, product clicks, category views, search queries, search result clicks, enquiry submissions, and datasheet downloads. Each event is linked to the anonymous session ID described above — no name, email, or IP address is stored alongside these events.

4. Third-Party Analytics Cookies (EMEA — with consent)

When you accept cookies on the EMEA version of the site, we enable the following third-party analytics services. These are not loaded until you have given your consent.

ServiceProviderWhat it collectsData sent to
Google Analytics 4Google LLCPage views, session duration, referrer source, browser and device type, approximate geographic region (country/city level). Google sets its own cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) with a default retention of 2 years.Google servers (US)
Vercel AnalyticsVercel Inc.Page view counts, Web Vitals performance metrics (e.g. LCP, FID, CLS), and basic device category. Vercel Analytics is designed to be privacy-friendly and does not use persistent cross-site cookies.Vercel servers (US/EU)

For US visitors, these services are enabled by default in line with applicable regulations. EMEA visitors are asked for consent before any third-party analytics cookies are set.

5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can clear all stored cookies and localStorage data at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will reset your consent preference and the consent banner will be shown again on your next visit.

Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies via their privacy or settings menu. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the website from functioning correctly.

For Google Analytics specifically, you can opt out across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or the way we operate our website. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.

7. Questions

If you have any questions about how we use cookies or about this policy, please reach out to us through the Contact page on this website.
